THE CARPACIA’S FUEL tanks are full of liquid methane, and the rest of the ships of the fleet have full tanks with a mix of liquid methane and liquid hydrogen. Amber and Jewel are back on duty, and thanks to them and Persephone, the truth about how they were injured is spreading throughout the ship. Now, when I pass by my crew, they are uttering apologies instead of insults. Doc and Miranda have their doubts about my innocence. It’s my fault for telling them I have a problem with anger issues. Getting the triceptonol from them is worth it.

Persephone has been making sure Nugget gets at last three doses with his morning meal, and Astrea is getting stimulants to increase her desire for sex. Word is spreading, from an unknown source, that Nugget is having problems in bed.

I say to Persephone, “It’s time to switch their medication.”

We go up to the bridge to make preparations for departure. Nugget is here. It is early for duty, even for him. He says, “Are you responsible for this?”

“Responsible for what?” I say as innocently as I can and do my best to suppress my laughter. “As long as you are here, start calculating the hyperspace coordinates for Zeta Reticuli.
